You don't need previous trade qualifications to apply.

A reasonable level of English and Maths is recommended, and you'll need to meet the relevant apprenticeship eligibility requirements. Some employers may also require a driving licence depending on the role.

ACS qualifications included in the apprenticeship

As part of the apprenticeship, you'll work towards relevant ACS (Accredited Certification Scheme) qualifications covering commercial catering gas work.

These qualifications form part of the mandatory qualifications identified within the current Commercial Catering Equipment Technician occupational standard.

CCCN1 – Core Commercial Catering Gas Safety

The core commercial catering gas safety competency. 

COMCAT1

Covering relevant commercial catering appliances including Group 1 boiler burners, open/solid top ranges, hot plates and bain maries.

COMCAT3

Covering relevant commercial catering appliances including deep fat and pressure fryers, griddles and grills.

COMCAT5

Covering relevant commercial catering appliances incorporating forced draught burner systems. 

CONGLP1 PD

The relevant competency covering changeover from natural gas to LPG for permanent dwellings. 

Apprenticeship funding and eligibility

This Commercial Catering Equipment Technician Apprenticeship is fully funded for those aged under 25. If you’re over 25 years of age, then you’ll receive 95% of the funding, with the rest paid by your employer.

You don't need previous trade qualifications to apply. You'll need to meet the relevant apprenticeship eligibility requirements, including the requirements relating to your right to work and English and Maths.
