Is this course right for me?

This course is suitable for any engineer who would respond to a report of a carbon monoxide analyser being activated, or a report of fumes.

If you’ll be required to carry out a formal carbon monoxide incident investigation on behalf of a gas supplier (as part of your obligation under gas safety legislation), you’ll need to have a relevant qualification in the investigation of carbon monoxide poisoning and carry out the investigation in accordance with the IGEM Industry Standard (IGEM/GL/8).

Course content

This two-day course consists of one day training with manual, and then one day of practical and theory assessments.

The scope of assessment covers Type A, B & C domestic appliances fitted in dwellings and follows the guidance and procedures outlined in BS7967 Parts 1 to 4.

It doesn’t cover commercial premises and appliances, or the procedures to adopt following an incident reportable under RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations).

As with all ACS qualifications, it’s valid for 5 years.
