Build practical networking and cybersecurity skills with our Level 3 Networking & Cybersecurity Short Course. Over five weeks, you’ll develop the technical knowledge and workplace skills needed to manage networks, control access, identify vulnerabilities and protect systems from modern cyber threats.

You’ll gain practical experience across network management, ethical hacking, access control and network security, helping you take your next step towards a career in networking and cybersecurity.

Is this programme right for me?

This course is designed for individuals who are interested in developing their technical skills and progressing towards a career in networking, IT or cybersecurity. It’s ideal for learners who want to build on their existing digital knowledge and gain an industry-relevant Level 3 qualification. 

Learners should be:

  • Aged 19+
  • Currently unemployed
  • Interested in Digital, IT, Networking or Cybersecurity
  • Residing in Greater London, or the East Midlands (Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire)

 

Networking & Cybersecurity skills you’ll gain

During the Level 3 Networking & Cybersecurity Short Course, you’ll develop practical skills and knowledge in:

  • Network management and infrastructure
  • Ethical hacking and vulnerability identification
  • Access control, authentication and authorisation
  • Network threats and cybersecurity vulnerabilities
  • Network security and risk reduction
  • Configuring devices and software to improve security

Knowledge gained

You’ll develop a strong understanding of how organisations manage and protect their networks, systems and data, including:

  • Network management functions, tools and technologies
  • The role of ethical hacking in identifying vulnerabilities
  • Identity, authentication and authorisation
  • Different types and sources of network attacks
  • Network security risks and vulnerabilities
  • Techniques for protecting networks and reducing cyber risk

Transferable skills

Alongside your technical knowledge, you’ll develop professional skills that can support your progression into digital and cybersecurity roles, including:

  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Project planning and management
  • Technical communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Risk awareness and decision-making
  • Confidence using digital and technical tools

Funding & How it works

This programme is fully funded by the UK government through the Adult Skills Fund (ASF), meaning it’s available at no cost to eligible learners.

The course is delivered Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, with up to five weeks of online learning. This includes four weeks of programme delivery, followed by a week of rework and additional support where required.

You’ll also attend a face-to-face careers support day in the London region, helping you prepare for your next steps after completing the programme.
