The course covers the requirements of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations (1999). This includes interpretation and definitions; materials and substances; design and installation; backflow and contamination prevention; hot and cold water; flushing devices; internal and external sanitary appliances.

Yes, the course is a requirement if you want to join your local water authority’s “Water Industry Approved Plumber Scheme” (or other relevant competent-person schemes).

Completing the course is a typical prerequisite for being able to self-certify compliant plumbing/water-fitting work under UK water regulations (subject to any other qualifications required by the scheme).
