Is this programme right for me?

This managed learning programme is for complete beginners to gas engineering.

It’s an intensive but fast-paced route to becoming qualified as a gas engineer, and typically faster than an apprenticeship.

Once the training is complete, you can then start to build up your portfolio, which can last between 12-24 months.

What qualifications will I gain?

After completing your training and building your on-site portfolio, you’ll be ready to take your ACS (Accredited Certification Scheme) Initial Assessments, including:

  • CCN1 – Core Domestic Gas Safety
  • CENWAT – Boilers and Water Heaters

Passing these assessments makes you eligible to register with the Gas Safe Register, the legal requirement for anyone working on gas appliances in the UK.

Gas Engineer Programme Content

This isn’t just a classroom qualification, it’s a full professional pathway. The course includes both theoretical and hands-on learning, covering all the essential modules to prepare you for real-world gas work.

Key topics include:

  • Gas safety legislation and standards
  • Combustion and ventilation principles
  • Domestic pipework installation
  • Tightness testing and purging
  • Emergency procedures and isolation controls
  • Installation and servicing of domestic boilers, cookers, and fires
  • Electrical testing for gas engineers
  • Flue and chimney inspection and testing

You’ll also complete an on-site mentored work placement, which lets you gain supervised experience on real gas installations, a crucial step before you’re ready to work independently.
