From 1 October 2026, every electrician who physically installs electric vehicle (EV) charge points must hold their own recognised Level 3 EV charging qualification, such as the LCL Level 3 Award in the Installation and Commissioning of Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment in Domestic, Commercial and Industrial locations.
From this date, installers can no longer rely on a company supervisor's qualification or certification to cover work carried out by electricians who do not hold an individual EV charging qualification.
